Who may benefit?
Not everyone who wants to lose weight needs medication. The doctor reviews BMI, medical history, other medicines and related health problems. Weight-management treatments have specific indications: a BMI over 25 alone is not sufficient. The calculator does not prescribe.
How do these options work?
Some injectable options act on signals involved in appetite and fullness. They may help reduce intake alongside eating and physical-activity changes. They are not miracle treatments and do not replace individual assessment.
How is it administered?
It is a subcutaneous injection, not an intravenous or intramuscular one. A fine needle is used to give the prescribed dose at the clinic. Sensations vary: a brief pinprick or local discomfort can occur. A completely painless experience is not guaranteed.
Is it given every week?
With the weekly option, appointments are arranged to review progress and administer treatment when appropriate. A weekly review does not mean a weekly dose increase. Changes follow prescribing instructions and tolerability; patients should not change the regimen themselves.
What is reviewed?
The doctor reviews progress, how the plan is working and treatment tolerability. The initial assessment includes a blood-test request, with or without medication. Tests may be done at Askabide or another laboratory.
Storage and individual use
Medication is stored according to temperature, expiry and in-use requirements. Each multidose pen is for one person and is not shared. Storage cannot continue indefinitely after an interruption.
What precautions matter?
Before starting, report other medicines, relevant history, pregnancy, breastfeeding or plans for pregnancy. Nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, constipation and other reactions may occur. Benefits, limits and precautions are explained before a treatment decision.
Contact between appointments
Call Askabide about treatment questions or concerns. Outside opening hours, the phone menu provides access to 24-hour urgent telephone support. For severe symptoms or immediate danger, seek emergency care without waiting for the next appointment. My progress is not a clinical or emergency channel.
